Free Hard SF Anthology - Even Dragons Dance
Free Hard SF Anthology
prof_brotherton  just announced the launch of a free SF anthology funded by the National Science Foundation.  I hear the NSF pays pretty well, so there must be some good stories there. :)

Mike, a PhD in astronomy, edited the anthology, and the intention is that the stories, beyond sheer entertainment value, can be used in classrooms to teach astronomy concepts.  How cool is that?

Stories by: Jerry Oltion, Alma Alexander, Wil McCarthy, David Levine, Jerry Weinberg, Mike Brotherton, Dan Hoyt, Mary Robinette Kowal, Valentin Ivanov, Jeffrey A. Carver, G. David Nordley, Kevin Grazier and Ges Segar, Alexis Glynn Latner and Geoffrey A. Landis

Memetics! Woo!

Seriously, activities that straddle disciplines, the way this one straddles genre entertainment and science education, sometimes produce really cool results.

Yes, I think anything that promotes science fiction, astronomy, and the crossover between the two has to be a good thing!
